Mycopunk is out now on PC in early access, and it’s one of the best co-op shooters of the year. The PC version has plenty of settings to adjust and has solid performance once you’re actually in a level. It also has the features you’d expect from an early access release, including cloud saves.

Though if you want to secure your local data, here is the save file location for Mycopunk on PC.

Within the Mycopunk folder, there’s a profiles folder that contains the PlayerData.saxon file. There are several backups in an additional folder here, but to keep things simple, I recommend backing up the entire Mycopunk folder for potential future use.

The developers have confirmed that Mycopunk is basically a full game, and most of the updates during the early access period will address balancing and narrative elements. I don’t expect the game to reset progress, but it’s still something that could potentially happen, considering this is an early access title.

Mycopunk Steam Features

Mycopunk makes good use of the Steam client and has plenty of neat features you’d want from an early access release in 2025.

  • Steam Cloud: All your progress is automatically uploaded to the Steam servers when you close the game and redownloaded upon launch. This is helpful if you’re playing the game on multiple devices.
  • Steam Family Share: The game is also part of the Steam Family Share library, meaning that if you purchase a copy, it will be available for members of your Steam family as well. Though given the multiplayer nature, your family will need more than one copy if you plan on playing together.
  • Achievements: Currently, there are 35 unique achievements in Mycopunk. I’m sure this number will likely go up when more content is added throughout early access.
  • Steam Input: You can make use of Steam Input and use any controller you want. That said, Mycopunk has native support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers with proper in-game prompts as well.

Overall, Mycopunk has support for cloud saves, multiple profile backups, native controller support, and everything you’d want from an early access PC release.
