Mistfall Hunter Releases Nerfs and Buffs Again – Meta Analysis August 19 Patch
Do Sorcs still need a nerf?
Every Mistfall Hunter patch has nerfed the most overperforming class while giving some buffs to underperforming class archetypes. With another big patch implemented on August 19, 2026, the meta shifts again.
Here are the full class balance changes in the patch notes and an overall summary of the current meta in solo and trio modes in Mistfall Hunter.

Mistfall Hunter Meta Shifts Again

After taking a look around the top players for all classes, the balance change is slowly shifting to more matchup-based encounters, which is good and means the nerfs and buffs are working.
With the previous patch nerfing Blackarrow, Shadowstrix, and Sorcerers, you can still see these classes perform well, while another class emerges on top: the Mercenary. These nerfs to the Sword and Shield Perfect Parry build help other class archetypes climb up a little, especially the Withered Knight Greatsword.
However, these changes mostly impact the solo mode queues rather than the trios.
Solo Meta
Solo queues have always been flooded with “meta” classes. Shadowstrixes dominated for a long time and then got nerfed. Mercenaries countered these “meta” builds, then got nerfed with this patch. Withered Knight Greatsword got a big buff, and now you can see them frequently as well.
The top class and builds around solo queues are still the same:
- Shadowstrix Dual Blades
- Stardust or Elemental Sorcerers
- Revenant Seer
- Mercenary SnS
- Withered Knight Greatsword (new)
The meta classes are mostly the same because most classes depend on matchups. Shadowstrix remains on top because they can dictate the fight by freely engaging and disengaging whenever they want. If they see a bad matchup, they can choose to test out the waters and get out if they are countered. Mobility is king in solos.
Stardust Sorcerers, even with the solo PvP nerf to their damage, still shine because of their raw damage output, insane mix of utility skills, and ability to chase. Most solo Sorcs use Stardust Tempest and Star Shock and try to get Swift for more mobility, making them extremely hard to catch for melee classes.
Revenant Seer is also on top for the simple fact that you can’t touch them. Seers want you to overcommit so they can get the win, but they can never chase you down, which is the downside. The class is also good against third-party engagements, as they can stick to their wards/runes.
Sword and Shield Mercs are still viable since they perform extremely well against other melee classes.
The Withered Knight Greatsword players already have good damage and defenses, but the recent buff allows them to actually hit the mark better, and they have even gained Super Armor for the fully charged heavy strike.
Blasphemer Seers remain weak as they can never dictate the fight, getting kited to oblivion when Zeal is up. Their Impact Sigil is hard to hit against good players because it is easily dodged (I mean, if you see them raise their hand from afar, you know it’s coming), and players opt to use Paralysis Curse instead, trying to land a stun by hitting three times, but you still need Lvl 5 Curse to actually hit the stunned target. Imagine sacrificing 5 affixes just for this scenario alone. The only upside is that their Shapeshift lets them disengage freely.
Trios Team Meta
Trios roughly remain the same with these classes:
- Stardust Sorcerers
- Revenant Seer
- Shadowstrix Dual Blades
Yup, the rogue, mage, and priest from the golden ages of World of Warcraft PvP arenas somehow made their way here. The goal of trio fights is to get one down as fast as possible while having the ability to reset.
Stardust Sorcerers are the best at initiating, casting Stardust Tempest to slow enemies (their dodge distance) and Gravitational Vortex for an AoE stun. When these skills land, it’s easy to see how overpowered they are. However, these are hard to land when they are under constant pressure, which is the strategy in most fights.
Shadowstrix Dual Blades can isolate other players, put constant pressure on a player, deal serious damage, and pick off retreating players who need a reset. A coordinated Sorc and SS can win almost any fight together.
Revenant Seers also provide good damage and a ton of utility. Windwalker Rune is one of the strongest abilities in the game, and if you can provide that dodge distance buff to allies and debuff to enemies, your team will permanently glue themselves to anyone in the radius. There’s also the heal or a perfectly timed Death Ward to help. If a Revenant Seer gets focused, they are incredibly durable, and this even allows the other players to freely hit anyone.
There could be some changes made to this team composition, such as SS being replaced by a Merc (even hammer mercs) or Seer for another DPS like a Hunter Blackarrow with a ton of DOTs.
