Mass Effect: Andromeda takes places in a completely different galaxy than the original trilogy, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t connected to Commander Shepard and the worlds that she explored. If you want to look as spiffy as the series’ original protagonist did, then you’ll want to pick up the N7 armor, which can be crafted from the Research and Development area. In this article we’ll teach you everything you need to know about how to get the N7 armor in Mass Effect: Andromeda, and what it will cost you.
We would like to note that we will only be covering how to get the N7 armor I in this article, which is the first iteration of the armor. We won’t be going over the costs of any of the additional upgrades for the armor, so you’ll need to look into those yourself
How to Get the N7 Armor
Unlike previous Mass Effect games, crafting and research play a large part in Andromeda, and players will need to know how to use the Research and Development stations if they wish to equip themselves with better items. Before you can make the N7 armor, you’re going to need to research it. This will cost you around 250 Milky Way Galaxy Research Points, which can be earned by scanning things that were brought with the Nexus from the Milky Way.
Earning up enough Research Points might be tough at the start, but just keeping scanning everything you can to earn more, and be sure to choose any scientist cryopods you can, as some of these will give you a bonus amount of Research Points to work with. Once you have 250 Milky Way Research Points saved up, head to the Tempest and interact with the Research Station. You should now have enough to research each piece of the armor that you need.
Once you have researched the armor pieces, it’s time to start crafting them. Each one requires different amounts of items to craft, and we’ve included that information below.
N7 Helmet
- 10 Omni-Gel Canisters
- 50 Copper
- 20 Iridium
- 10 Platinum
N7 Chest
- 30 Omni-Gel Canisters
- 140 Copper
- 70 Iridium
- 20 Platinum
N7 Legs

- 50 Copper
- 20 Iridium
- 10 Platinum
N7 Arms
- 10 Omni-Gel Canisters

- 10 Platinum
If you’ve having trouble finding the required components, just around the various merchants and buy/sell kiosks that you come across. We didn’t have much trouble finding the Omni-Gel Canisters, and Platinum and Copper can both be found on Kadara when using the Nomad to mine. Iridium may prove tough to locate, though, at which point you’ll need to purchase it from one of the merchants on the Nexus. It is rather expensive, though, so make sure you bring along a lot of junk to get rid of.
