If you’re hoping to find a new free-to-play game ready to absorb all your time, but hopefully not your money, XDefiant could be a perfect choice. Featuring plenty of iconic figures in a multiverse shooter for the ages, you’ll need to prepare yourself for anything. However, if you’re hoping to jump into the open beta currently running for this new shooter experience, you may wonder why it’s not showing up on your console. Let’s dive in and find out what the case may be, and if XDefiant will eventually make its way to your console of choice.

Which Consoles Can You Play XDefiant On?

When XDefiant finally reaches its full release status, it will be available on every major console, excluding the Nintendo Switch. However, during the Open-Beta period, only players with current-generation hardware will be able to join in on the fun, leaving PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners out in the cold.

While this may be unfortunate, players on both previous generation and current generation hardware will be able to play against one another once the game reaches release, as full cross-play has already been announced. While it is unclear why previous-generation hardware has been excluded from the Open-Beta period, they’ll be able to jump in when all of the bugs have been swept away.

It’ll be interesting to watch the progression of this particular title as it makes its way to different platforms, but the immediate reception is rather warm and welcoming. Having the chance to devote yourself to your favorite Tom Clancy faction, each with its own unique perks and skills should make every match as exciting as it can be. XDefiant is available now in Open-Beta on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will also be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when it enters full release.
