Is Spider-Man 2 Getting Venom DLC or Spin-Off?

It’s really up to the fans. Insomniac will give the fans what they want!

Despite having only released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at the stroke of midnight, the developers of the game have already been making small talk, discussing the possibility of additional content in the form of a Venom spin-off or DLC.

In this guide, we’ll find out if Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is getting a Venom DLC or spin-off.

Will a Venom DLC or Spin-off Come to Spider-Man 2?

At this time, it is unknown whether Spider-Man 2 will receive a Venom DLC or spin-off game. However, Insomniac Games have made it clear that it’s certainly a possibility.

In an interview with The Insider, where the topic was exclusively Venom and his story in the Spider-Man 2 game, the question was asked about what was next in the series and whether players could expect another spin-off as they did with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Miles Morales. The senior narrative director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Jon Paquette, obliged with an answer and stated that it depends entirely on the fans and players and how they react to the game and the Venom character.

Furthermore, Paquette goes on to say that the tale of Venom opens a world of endless possibilities and opportunities for the franchise but for now, the focus is on Spider-Man 2 and catching a break between this project and the next. They are still a long way from working on anything new. This does tell us it’s far from confirmed but there is definitely enough positive dialogue that it can be in the pipeline at a later stage.

Paquette Said:

“They’re waiting to see the reaction from fans. We’re gonna listen to the fans and we’re gonna ask ourselves, ‘Okay, what do the fans really want?’

“There’s such a rich universe there, and there’s a lot that the comics have done. We tried to take all that in, and then forget about it, and think about what would be best for our characters and our franchise.”

With all that’s been said, it appears it’s never too early to be talking about the next installment or what more fans can get out of the game to continue the immersion of being one of the most famous Marvel superheroes and supervillains, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and the symbiote Venom.

If the fans do react positively and leave the developers of Spider-Man no choice but to work on a spin-off or DLC, then it’s going to be a busy 2024–25 for the Insomniac crew. With the rumors that Insomniac is looking to release Marvel’s Wolverine in 2024, it only leaves room for them to work on a Venom spin-off in 2025. This is why the possibility of a Venom DLC makes more sense for future content.

As of Friday, October 20, Spider-Man 2 is available for download on PlayStation 5. There is a standard edition and a digital Deluxe edition available on the PlayStation Store.
