Is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Canon With the Movies?

Developer Ubisoft Massive stepped into the Avatar universe with a clear goal in mind, and that was to tell a unique story within the same world as Cameron’s ultra-budget movie. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is canon; it’s part of the same world and universe, just set on a different continent and at a different time from what we see in the movies.

In the game, the player’s character is frozen in cryosleep for more than a decade after the failure of the TAP program. Upon waking, the journey to free Pandora from the RDA begins with a bit of a bang.

When is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Set?

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora begins in 2138 but then jumps forward to 2154, which is the same year as the first Avatar film. Anyone who finds themselves hoping to see a little bit more of Jake Sully from the first Avatar film will be sorely disappointed. While he’s mentioned by name during gameplay, Sully never appears.

In fact, we never see him anywhere.
