Tomorrow, Activision and Treyarch will launch the first early access period for their Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta. This early access phase is only for PS4 players, and only for folks who either pre-ordered the game digitally or received a code through a few other means. But regardless of when or where you end up playing the beta (if you do), there’s a little reward in it for you if you put some time in.
Black Ops Cold War Mutual Animosity Guide
In total, you get a fully decked-out Type 821 SMG Blueprint, which you’ll retain all the way to the full version of the game. If you play Call of Duty Mobile, you can also look forward to receiving CIA agent Russell Adler as an Operator. If you aren’t familiar, he’s the guy in the campaign trailer who looks like Dolph Lundgren wearing a Dirk Diggler wig.

Anyway, the Mutual Animosity Blueprint is notable, because it comes with a bunch of pre-installed attachments, including a scope, muzzle, extended mag, underbarrel and paint job. Luckily getting these rewards is pretty easy; you just have to play the game! All you need to do is invest enough time to reach level 10 during the open beta testing phase. Once you do that, you’ll just have to wait until Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches, and you’ll be able to use the Mutual Animosity setup in Multiplayer.
For Russell Adler, he won’t be added to Call ofDuty until after the beta period as well. There will be some code redemption involved, so make sure your emails from Activision aren’t going into your Spam folder. And if you haven’t set up an Activision account, you’re going to want to do so as soon as possible. And that’s for more reasons than just getting a silly gun skin; that’s also needed for things like cross-play.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta test starts tomorrow, October 8 for anyone on PS4 who received an early access code. You can preload the beta software right now! On October 10 the gates for PS4 players will open for everyone. Xbox One and PC early access happens on October 15 (PS4 also gets time here), before the full open beta hits all platforms on October 17. The testing phase will run until October 19, so you more or less have until then to get to level 10.
