Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a highly immersive experience where the world reacts to Henry in various ways as he walks through villages, chats with locals, and haggles with traders. Henry has a reputation to uphold, and the first step to earning the approval of those around him is wearing a clean set of clothes.
As he fights bandits, trudges through mud, and sleeps on hay, his clothing will gradually get covered in blood, caked in mud, or infested with… who knows what? Fortunately, you can keep your clothes clean in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 through several methods. Here’s how it all works.
Washing Clothes in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Clothing items including armor can become dirty or bloodied over time when you engage in fights, walk through dirty swamp water, and hide in bushes. Any activity that involves your clothes directly interacting with the environment will add dirt and grime to your equipment.

Just like you have to maintain the quality of your blade, it’s important to wash your clothes and armor so that you’re taken seriously by the inhabitants of Bohemia.

Thankfully, washing clothes is fairly straightforward in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and you won’t need to break the bank to maintain your hygiene.
There are two ways to go about this:
Washing at a trough will remove blood, but not dirt.
Using Soap
Soap is a common item in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which can be purchased from most traders and crafted using Alchemy as well. It’s mostly inexpensive and averages around 15-25 groschen in price.

Once you’ve purchased Soap, you need to find a pond/stream with a wooden platform. You can often spot women doing their laundry on the same platform.

Once spotted, this will be marked on your map as well with a “Laundry” icon.

Once you approach the platform, you’ll have to option to wash yourself (which washes your face and part of your clothes) and to “Launder clothes“. Select the latter option, and you’ll be able to select the items you want to wash. We recommend hitting the “Select all” option, followed by “Confirm“.

This will use soap from your inventory and wash all your clothes that are currently equipped or unequipped. Don’t worry, there is no washing mini-game or even an animation of Henry doing laundry.
Soap Recipe
If you don’t want to keep buying Soap, you can also craft it by learning its recipe in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Item | Ingredients | Alchemical Formula – Steps |
---|---|---|
Soap | Thistle x2 Dandelion x1 Charcoal x1 | 1. Grind the thistle and add it to the cauldron 2. Boil for 2 turns 3. Add the Dandelion to the cauldron and boil for 1 turn 4. Grind the charcoal and add it to the cauldron 5. Finally, pour. |

You can purchase the recipe early on from Apothecary Emerich in his store in Troskowitz for 133 groschen.

At Bathhouses
The other way to have your clothes washed for you is by acquiring the services of a Bathhouse. You can find a Bathhouse early on in Zhelejov Wagoner’s Inn. Here, you can spot the Bathhouse owner at the entrance usually.

Interact with her and select the option that says “I need a hot bath and my clothes washed“.

This is the cheapest service offered by the Bathhouse, and both you and your clothing will be completely clean afterward. It costs a bit of groschen, but it’s still cheaper than the other two services, which also heal wounds and provide a buff.
Washing Yourself in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Washing yourself in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 doesn’t require any money at all. Simply approach one of the many wooden tubs placed in different towns and villages throughout Bohemia for a quick wash.

You can also visit Bathhouses for a standard wash, pay a little extra to treat your wounds, and acquire a bonus for being taken care of a little extra.
Best Hygiene Perks in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Once you reach Level 10, you can learn two Perks in the Vitality section that are tied to cleanliness and provide different bonuses for staying clean.
Perk | Bonus |
---|---|
Next to Godliness | Washing at a tub or pier or taking a bath in a bathhouse will cure 10 points of health. Plus, if you go to bed clean, you’ll heal 25% faster while you sleep. |
Well-Dressed | Your clothes and body will get dirty 20% slower. In addition, by washing at a tub you can get rid of all the dirt on your body, but you still have to go to a bathhouse or a pond with your clothes. |

These reward players for taking the time to stay clean, and reduce the time it takes for clothes to get dirty. Additionally, going to bed clean will heal you 25% faster, which is especially useful if you’ve been in a tough fight.
Overall, staying clean in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will ensure that you’re taken seriously as you explore the different locales of Bohemia. It’s worth taking the time to maintain your equipment as many NPCs are directly influenced by the quality and condition of your apparel.
