How to Equip and Throw Grenades in Starfield

To use grenades in Starfield, equip the one you want to use by entering your inventory, selecting Throwables, and picking the grenade you wish to throw. Afterward, aim at a location and press G on your keyboard or RB on your Xbox controller to throw the grenade. You’ll damage any enemies in the grenade’s area of effect and can also hurt yourself if you’re in close range. Make sure to run away from the blast range quickly.

If you want to improve your damage dealt and taken from grenades, you can unlock the Demolitions skill under Combat. Below are its four ranks:

  • Rank One – Throwing grenades now shows a trajectory arc. Explosions have a 25% larger radius.
  • Rank Two – Explosives do 25% more damage.
  • Rank Three – Reduce damage taken from explosives by 25%.
  • Rank Four – All previous bonuses are doubled.

You can increase your blast radius and grenade damage by 50% once you reach Demolitions rank four. You can also reduce your damage taken, protecting you against grenades that enemies toss your way.
