Here’s a quick explainer on how to use fish bait and where to craft it in Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar.

How to Equip Fish Bait in Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar

To equip fish bait, grab your Small, Medium, Large, or Guardian Fish Baits and put them in your inventory. Cycle through your hotbar and find the type of fish bait you want to use, and press “Y” (if on switch) to set the item as your current bait.

You should see a hook icon on the bait, indicating that it is equipped. If you switch to your fishing rod, you’ll also see a bait icon next to the fishing rod icon in the lower-left corner of your screen.

If you deposit the bait, it’ll automatically unequip, but you’ll have to equip it again when you retrieve it.

Where to Get Fish Bait in Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar

There’s a lot of confusion with fish bait because there’s also an item called “Fish Bait Stock.” Fish Bait Stock is not a usable bait…yet.

This is probably why some farmers get confused, because trying to set this Fish Bait Stock as bait is an exercise in futility. You do need the actual Fish Bait first.

To get Fish Bait, you must unlock the blue windmill, after which you can interact with it and find the following crafts:

  • Small Fish Bait – 1x Fish Bait Stock and 4x Weeds
  • Medium Fish Bait – 1x Fish Bait Stock, 4x Weeds, and 1x Rice
  • Large Fish Bait – 1x Fish Bait Stock, 4x Weeds, and 1x Corn
  • Guardian Bait (special item) – 1x Fish Bait Stock, 4x Weeds, and 1 Fish Bones

You can easily buy the Fish Bait Stock from Miguel’s store. Use that plus Weeds to craft some Small Fish Bait. It can take a while to stock up on fish bait since it takes more than a day to craft a stack of 10, even longer if you are crafting larger baits.

As for the Guardian Bait, you’ll need to unlock Felipe, get the Wonderstones, and place the Purple Wonderstone in the Blue Windmill to unlock the Guardian Bait special item craft, among other things.

We also have a guide if you are curious about more special items.
