Place a Lumber Mill and interact with it at your settlement for the Compost Bin to appear in your build menu. After the vehicle update went live in LEGO Fortnite, there were plenty of players who were unable to find the bin even though they had all the upgrades for their settlement. Because one of the first materials for the Compost Bin is planks, the game forces you to interact with the mill. It’s odd but you still need to use the Lumber Mill even if you already have the planks on hand.

After using the mill, the Compost Bin will appear in your builds menu so that you can place it anywhere there is room in your settlement. However, there are four different materials needed to build the full item. Each of them is fairly easy to get but they also happen to be exactly what the bin creates as well.

Compost Bin Materials:

  • 5 Planks
  • 3 Fertilizer
  • 2 Soil
  • 1 Sand

Now that you have the Compost Bin built and ready for use, you want to keep an eye out for organic materials that you can let process. These include items such as bones, horns, or plants. When you let them process in the bin, you will be rewarded with new materials like fertilizer and Biomass. In the vehicle update, Biomass is incredibly important for crafting Power Cells to fuel the cars themselves. So get to work on those bins as soon as possible.

With the fuel in hand, you can get started on building cars in LEGO Fortnite.
