Most players look immediately for the auto-battling feature when they play a gacha game, but this is a unique situation for Persona 5: The Phantom X. The game plays like a JRPG, going through the story, cutscenes, and exploring this alternate metaverse of Persona 5.

However, you still want to unlock auto-battling so you can focus more on managing and strengthening your party and save some time grinding materials. Here’s when and how you unlock the auto-battle feature in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

When Do You Unlock Auto-Battling in Persona 5 The Phantom X?

Unlocking the auto-battle feature is quite far into the story, which is a bit expected as you’ll read through more dialogues and watch through more cutscenes than playing the game in the campaign.

You’ll unlock auto-battling after infiltrating Takeyuki Kuichi’s palace, also known as the Subway Slammer.

You’ll meet interesting characters first, like Tomoko and Chie Motoha, and eventually reach Kuichi’s palace. Go through the saferoom checkpoints, and instead of going back to reality at every checkpoint, push through until you reach the Exhibition Hall.

This is where the game teaches you about looking for cover and then going for an ambush. After this short tutorial, you’ll unlock the auto-battle feature as you fight the next enemy. Look for the upper-right icons during the battle and press the loop icon to start automating the fight. Use the fast forward icon to make the battle even quicker.

The auto-battle feature is quite smart in the game. It utilizes your party’s Persona skills and uses them perfectly to exploit weaknesses and even go for baton passes and all-out attacks. However, they don’t cheap out on spending SP, so you’ll have to keep that in mind, especially if you are pushing palaces.
