How to Unlock Acolyte in Risk of Rain 2
Unlocking Acolyte takes a couple steps
Acolyte is one of the two new playable Survivors introduced in Risk of Rain 2: Hallowed Concepts. Unlike Enforcer, who is unlocked by default once you purchase the DLC, Acolyte requires you to complete a special encounter involving the Shrine of Descent, defeat several waves of enemies, and revive her using a healing item.
The process is fairly straightforward once you know what to look for, but you’ll need to prepare before entering the encounter. Here’s how to unlock Acolyte in Risk of Rain 2.
How to Unlock Acolyte in Risk of Rain 2
To unlock Acolyte, you need to obtain the N’tormat and at least one page, activate a Shrine of Descent, complete its special boss encounter, and revive Acolyte with a healing item.
Follow these steps to unlock her:
- Start a new run with the Hallowed Concepts DLC enabled.
- Obtain the N’tormat and at least one N’tormat Page. You can acquire these by completing a Trial or a Wake event.

- If you’re struggling to find a Wake event, visit the Bazaar Between Time and jump down the pit to locate a gong that leads to a Trial.
- Once you have the N’tormat and a page, look for the Shrine of Descent on subsequent stages. It resembles a Shrine of the Mountain with a small orb floating above it.

- Activate the Shrine of Descent and complete the stage’s Teleporter event. Expect a tougher fight due the the Shrine of Descent’s modifier of adding a soul-binding trial to the event.
- After completing the event, enter the Ritual Portal that appears.
- Inside the new arena, climb the ramps and interact with the console to begin the encounter.
- Defeat the successive waves of bosses until the Anima Harvester appears.
- Defeat the Anima Harvester and locate Acolyte lying on the ground near the exit portal.
- Approach Acolyte and give her a healing item to revive her and unlock her as a playable Survivor.
The Shrine of Descent appears to spawn consistently once you have the N’tormat and at least one page.
Which Healing Items Work to Revive Acolyte?
You’ll need at least one healing item in your inventory to revive Acolyte after defeating the Anima Harvester. The item is consumed during the interaction, so make sure you don’t enter the encounter without one.
- Medkit
- Bison Steak
- Leeching Seed
- Topaz Brooch
- Harvester’s Scythe
- Cautious Slug
- Infusion
- Power Elixir
Other healing items will also work but defensive items like Tougher Times and Dio’s Best Friend will not work.
I recommend holding onto a common healing item throughout the run rather than relying on finding one after the boss fight. It likely won’t be hard to find the healing items, but if you want to guarantee it you can use the Artifact of Command.
Once you’ve revived Acolyte, she’ll become available in your Survivor selection screen for future runs. Acolyte specializes in close-range glaive attacks, ranged strikes, and abilities that trade her own life force for additional power.
