How to Track An Enemy’s Path in Horizon Forbidden West

Track your target, take down your target.

Many of the robotic enemies you face in Horizon Forbidden West prove rather formidable head-on, so stealth takedowns and traps play an integral role in your survival. Here is how to track an enemy’s path in Horizon Forbidden West.

How to Track Enemy’s in Horizon Forbidden West

To take full advantage of the data available, namely the ability to scan and track targets, you will want to learn how to track your enemy’s path in Horizon Forbidden West. The information provided will give you a glimpse into their general route through the environment, and you can access this information by scanning your target by holding down the right analog stick on the controller and then selecting “Track” with “RB.”

Your HUD will update with a glowing path where the enemy will walk, but it doesn’t precisely detail where they stop, so you’ll have to perform some detective work. Almost every enemy in the game will follow a set path, to some extent, and stop at pre-defined intervals. It’s just enough time to let you gain the upper-hand.

Once the enemy passes by, take them down!

Tips to Take Down Enemies Using Path Tracking

After you garner some information about your enemy’s pathing, I recommend the following steps to take down foes:

  • Place down an explosive trap directly in their path. As the enemy walks over the balloon, it pops and explodes, causing severe damage that generally results in a one-hit kill.
  • Wait for an enemy to pass by while you hide in the tall, red grass. Once they’re within range, perform a stealth takedown.
  • Alternatively, if you’d rather avoid combat, wait until the enemy moves past you and then follow a few steps behind, slowly and carefully, to move around the zone.

It starts with learning to track your enemy and then culminates in the Burning Shores DLC!
