If you didn’t know already, you can switch perspectives when playing Lightyear Frontier. Here’s how to switch between first and third person mode in Lightyear Frontier.
How to Go Into Third-Person Mode in Lightyear Frontier
To go into third-person or first-person mode in Lightyear Frontier, you’ll want to press either the middle-mouse button on mouse and keyboard or down on the D-Pad when using a controller. This will swap you over to a camera behind your mech, letting you see wherever you’re turning and lets you see how your mech’s legs are positioned more easily. To swap back to first person, simply hit the button again, and you’ll be all set.
Now, you’ll notice from my wording that you can see behind your mech. That’s because switching perspectives doesn’t work when out of your mech. You can only see behind you when in the mech. This is likely done since seeing behind you as a player doesn’t matter quite as much, but it is still a shame that you need to deal with a perspective switch if you like playing in third person with the mech.
How to Change the Field of View in First and Third Person Mode
If you’re not happy with how close or far your vision is from your mech, this can be changed. To change it, head to the Settings menu through the Pause menu and navigate to Display, then scroll down to “1st Person Field of View” and “3rd Person Field of View (Mech)”. Then, simply change these values to however you want. Keep in mind that first-person view will change both the mech’s first-person and the character’s first-person FOV, and there’s sadly no way to split it up.
