Once you reach the Castle section of the Resident Evil 4 Remake, you’ll find out that Leon isn’t as invincible as he seems. He eventually gets stuck, and Ashley has to rescue him instead for the first time, which leads players to the confusing Grandfather Clock puzzle.
As soon as you take control of Ashley, you’ll have nothing but a lantern in hand and your wits to get through the perilous library portion of the Castle. One of the largest obstacles in your way, aside from the knights, will be the Grandfather Clock puzzle, and we’re here to help you solve it.
Resident Evil 4 Remake – How to Solve the Grandfather Clock Puzzle
There are two different clock puzzles that you’ll run into during your time as Ashley in the Castle. Both of them are necessary to make progress. However, they also share the same solution. Your goal with these clocks is to set the hands in the right time and confirm their position.
You can get lucky before finding the solution and move from there, but there is a piece of paper with the time you need directly on it. As you progress through the library in Resident Evil 4 Remake with Ashley, you’ll eventually come across a door that opens up with the coat of arms key. This same hallway has a well-lit room containing the paper with the solution for the Grandfather Clock puzzle.

The time you need to set the clock is “11:04” and the time of day won’t matter here. As long as you set the short hand to 11 and the long hand to 4, the clock will start ringing like the time hit midnight. After some brief noise, the Grandfather Clock puzzle door will open and you can reach the mausoleum in the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
