How To Skip the Atomfall Launcher on PC

Fallout London, at last!

Atomfall is Rebellion Development’s take on the first-person open-world RPG genre and it’s essentially their Fallout, but this time with North England as the backdrop. It’s an ambitious and fun game that runs on their proprietary engine instead of Unreal.

The PC version runs pretty well and looks the part, as well. That said, there is one annoyance that all PC players will have to sit through in Atomfall, and it’s the launcher window every time you start the game.

Skip the Atomfall Launcher on PC

Every single time you launch Atomfall, a launcher pops up that lets you configure the game’s different settings, select the DirectX version, and more. It’s useful the first time you’ve booted up the game, but it’s pretty annoying on repeated launches. To disable the Atomfall launcher completely, you need to add a launch command to the game on Steam.

  • Launch Steam and navigate to your library.
  • Right-click on Atomfall and select Properties.
  • In the General tab, enter the following command under LAUNCH OPTIONS.
-benchmark

After that, the game will start directly instead of opening the launcher first. If you’ve played any previous game developed on Rebellion’s Asura engine, the same command is used to skip the launcher for those as well.

It’s a mostly harmless inclusion and harkens back to the early 2000s PC releases, but it’s unnecessary because most players now prefer adjusting settings in-game so they can have a better understanding of the changes happening in real time.

If, for any reason, you want to enable the launcher again, simply remove the command from the launch options of Atomfall in Steam. This will let you switch the DirectX version as well if you aren’t happy with your choice. You can disable it again after this, easy-peasy.

Overall, Atomfall shows that Rebellion isn’t just the Sniper Elite studio, and I appreciate them experimenting with different genres. They’re also the few remaining studios that continue to develop their in-house technologies instead of jumping to Unreal Engine 5. If you’re a bit hesitant about the new release, it’s also available on the Xbox Game Pass service, so you can always try it out there.
