Animal Crossing New Horizons is packed with plenty to do every day. Players can water their plants, check out new items in the shop, and more. In previous games, if you quit without saving, Mr. Resetti would show up to yell at you for what would feel like hours – luckily this game doesn’t have that. However, you still don’t want to lose progress. Here’s how to save in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
How to Save Your Game in Animal Crossing New Horizons
If you’re looking to save your game in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you must hit the minus button on your controller. This will open up the menu and ask if you want to wrap it up for the day. Your choices will then be to “Save and End” or “Keep Playing.” If you choose to end, you’ll save the game and go back to the title screen.
You can also save and end the game by sleeping in your bed. If you have any beds in your home, just go over to them and interact with them.

Of course, Animal Crossing New Horizons is constantly saving major changes to your island in the background, so if you forget to save one time, most changes will have been saved.
It’s important to note you can’t save if you have friends over on your island, or if you’re at a friend’s island visiting so make sure you’re alone on your own island first before attempting to call it quits for the day, otherwise you may accidentally lose your progress. Though also note that the game will save automatically once you cease online play.
Well, that’s everything you need to know about how to save your game in Animal Crossing New Horizons. If you need help obtaining log stakes or getting Redd to come to your island, we’ve got you covered.
