How to Quicksave and Quickload in Starfield

That wasn't what I wanted! Quicksave time!

When playing through Starfield, you’re going to find that saving manually can take quite a bit of time and become annoying after a while. You have to go all the way to the menu, then click Save, then either overwrite a save or select a new save slot. It isn’t an entire essay’s worth of work, mind you, but it can be time-consuming nonetheless. Thankfully, there’s a way to speed the process up. Here’s how to Quicksave and Quickload your game in Starfield.

How to Save and Load Your Game Quickly in Starfield

To Quicksave and Quickload in Starfield, you’ll want to press the F5 and F9 keys on your keyboard, respectively. The F5 key will quicksave without going to any menus, creating a new Quicksave slot in your save list. This will be overwritten whenever you press the Quicksave key again, so be sure you don’t need that Quicksave again when you do. Once you’re ready to load back to that quicksave, press the Quickload key, and you’ll be back where you need to be. Alternatively, a Quicksave option can be found in the menu.

Can You Quicksave and Quickload on Xbox Series X|S?

You might’ve noticed that we haven’t mentioned a way to Quicksave and Quickload on Xbox Series X|S, and that’s because there isn’t a way using two buttons. Instead, you have to open the menu and press Quicksave. Then, when you want to load that Quicksave, you need to open up your list of saves to load from and load from said Quicksave. The reason for this is likely due to the limitations of a controller over a keyboard having far more input options, but it’s understandable if that’s frustrating.
