How to Manually Update to Genshin Impact 4.7 on PC

No need for the annoying launcher!

Genshin Impact 4.7 is only a few days from launch, and you can now pre-load it to get ready for its launch. The PC version’s launcher is still not in the best shape, and for many users, updating the game through it can be problematic. This guide will walk you through the complete steps to manually update Genshin Impact to version 4.7 on PC.

Manually update to Genshin Impact 4.7

Manually updating Genshin Impact allows players to download the update files directly from the miHoYo servers with little interaction with the launcher. We don’t privately host these files, and the links provided are the same ones the launcher uses to communicate with the miHoYo servers.

Note: This guide assumes that Genshin Impact is currently at version 4.6 on your PC

Genshin Impact 4.7 Patch Files

Download the following patch files for version 4.7 using a third-party download manager of your choice. Only download one file at a time to avoid corruption issues in the zip files.

You need the Patch file, and at least one audio file pack. Make sure to download the audio pack corresponding to your Windows default language.

Patch LinkSize
Genshin Impact Patch 4.724. 36 GB
Chinese Audio Pack513.59 MB
English Audio Pack607.33 MB
Japanese Audio Pack579.81 MB
Korean Audio Pack458.70 MB

With the files downloaded, we can update the game to version 4.7.

Step 1: Update the Launcher

Run the Genshin Impact launcher once, and it should automatically download the latest version. This is the launcher version, rather than the game version.

Step 2: Initiate Update and Pause It

Now, click the Update button, and pause it after a few seconds.

Step 3: Quit the Launcher Completely

Make sure the launcher isn’t running in the background. Close it completely, and check if it’s running in the taskbar.

Step 4: Delete the Chunk Folder in the Genshin Impact Game

Head over to where Genshin Impact is installed on your PC. The default location in most cases is the following:

C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\Genshin Impact Game\

In the Genshin Impact Game folder, delete the Chunk folder. This contains the partial download.

Step 5: Paste Zip Files in the Genshin Impact Game Folder

Copy all the zip files you downloaded including the 4.7 patch file and any audio packs. Paste these in the Genshin Impact Game folder at the following location, or wherever you have the game installed.

C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\Genshin Impact Game\

Step 6: Run the Launcher and Update

After you have placed the files, simply open the launcher, and click on the Update button to apply the latest patch.

That’s all you need to do to manually update the latest version of Genshin Impact. If you followed the steps correctly, the launcher should say “Pre-Installation Done“. Don’t extract the files till the update is live because you won’t be able to play the game until it’s live in that case. When the patch is live, you might have to download additional files in-game, which is completely normal.
