How to Build a Boat in LEGO Fortnite

If you want to become the greatest sailor in this blocky world, first you need the necessary materials to build your boat. Like all things that require some kind of movement, the base for your boat will be a Dynamic Foundation (or several of them). To make one Dynamic Foundation you need nine pieces of Flexwood.

Next, you’ll want to attach some Thrusters or Large Thrusters to the Foundation.

Thruster Crafting Recipe

To make one Thruster you will need:

  • 1 Wooden Rod.
  • 1 Torch.
  • 1 Blast Powder.

To make a Large Thruster, you need:

  • 3 Wooden Rods.
  • 1 Torch.
  • 2 Blast Powder.

The amount of Thrusters you need depends on how big you want your boat to be. You can build a simple 1×2 platform with the Dynamic Foundations and three or four Thrusters will be enough. For a larger build, like a 2×3 for example, around seven Thruster would be enough to cover the larger side. This is all completely up to you.

The general idea is to distribute the Thrusters evenly, so the boat can move in a straight line, and also to place them all on the same side, so you don’t end up going in circles, or nowhere at all.

Activation Switch Crafting Recipe

The last component you will need is an Activation Switch. You can make one with:

  • 1 Wood.
  • 1 Blast Powder.

Once you’re happy with the size and power of your boat, the last step is to turn it on and try it, and that’s what the switch is for. Place it on the Foundation wherever is most convenient to you. If you already have your boat near a body of water, just hop on and turn it on and you can start sailing away.

How to Steer Your Boat in LEGO Fortnite

It’s very important to note that, as you might have noticed, there are no steering mechanisms yet. You can try and unbalance your boat to the sides to make it turn, but the process is a bit tiring and tedious. It works, though. Otherwise, the boat will only move in a straight line, so the possibility of getting stuck on an object like a rock is very high. Check your trajectory before turning on the Thrusters.

How to Swim in LEGO Fortnite

Looking to get across water in LEGO Fortnite without creating a boat? Here’s how optimize swimming with these stamina-saving tips:

  1. Spam the Jump Button: Instead of regular swimming, repeatedly press the jump button while crossing the river.
  2. Directional Movement: Hold the directional key (e.g., ‘W’ on a keyboard) in the desired direction to streamline your movement.

You’ll notice that the stamina bar doesn’t deplete as quickly!

No matter how you want to get across water in LEGO Fortnite, now you have options, and your little LEGO avatar is (almost) unstoppable.
