Some moves in Pokemon have been around since the beginning. For instance, Surf is a classic Pokemon move that, in previous games, was the only way players could traverse the high seas in a Pokemon region. With a change in how HMs work in recent games, players have needed to rely on Surf far less. However, it’s still a mighty water-type move in battle, so you’re probably looking to add it to one of your Pokemon’s move sets. Here’s how to get the Surf TM in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

If you want to obtain the Surf TM, you will need to head to Levincia City. This is the city home to Iono, the electric-type gym leader. It’s located on the far east of the map and is the town with the large skyscrapers. You can’t miss it.
The Surf TM is located on the city’s south side, behind one of the buildings next to the beach. You’ll find the glowing yellow Poke Ball containing the Surf TM wedged between a brown barrel and some vending machines against the wall.
