How to Get Sparkling Meal Power Level 3 in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Herba Mystica is going to be the key component to getting that Shiny Power 3 sandwich. Herba Mystica, you might have noticed, are the herbs that the Titan Pokemon consumed to become as large as they are. But if you want to get your own, you’ll need to defeat 5- and 6-Star Tera Raid Pokemon.

The Herba Mystica we care about here is Bitter Herba Mystica and Spicy Herba Mystica. With these two, you can obtain Sparkling Power 3 and Encounter Power 3, no matter what. It’s the other ingredients that will dictate what Typing you’ll get.

Here is a table with all the ingredients you’ll need. All of them will require 1 Bitter Herba Mystica and 1 Spicy Herba Mystica.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Shiny Charm

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s Sparkling Power sandwiches aren’t the only thing that will increase your odds of finding a shiny Pokemon. In fact, Sparkling Power sandwich odds will stack with another item: the Shiny Charm. The Shiny Charm in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is a charm that will sit in your inventory and will passively increase any given odds of a shiny Pokemon appearing in the wild.

Typically, your odds of finding a wild shiny Pokemon are 1 in 4,096. The Shiny Charm increases these odds to 1 in 1,365. This is triple your standard odds. If you’re an avid shiny hunter, you’ll want this charm on you.

To get the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, you need to complete the Paldean Pokedex. There are 400 Pokemon in the Paldea Pokedex, and they all need to be captured, traded, or evolved to be registered. Once you’ve registered all 400 Pokemon in the Pokedex, head on over to the Academy and talk to the biology teacher, Jacq, for your reward.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Mass Outbreaks

The best time to eat a Sparkling Power sandwich in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is when you see a Mass Outbreak. Mass Outbreaks are large groupings of a single Pokemon, which will show up on your map as an icon of the Pokemon experiencing an outbreak. The Pokemon in question will be random, but you’ll experience new, different outbreaks every day.

Tip:

If you’re searching for a specific Pokemon, you can change Mass Outbreaks by advancing your Switch’s internal clock by 24 hours.

What makes Mass Outbreaks so great is that they increase your odds of finding a shiny Pokemon. Mass Outbreaks contain about 100 Pokemon, with around 10 appearing on the screen at once. As you catch or defeat the Pokemon in an outbreak, the grouping will dwindle and shiny odds will increase. After catching or defeating around 30 Pokemon in an outbreak, shiny odds will double to 1 in 2,048. After catching or defeating around 60 Pokemon in an outbreak, shiny odds will triple to 1 in 1,365.

Add a Sparkling Power sandwhich into the mix, and your shiny odds increase substantially: 1 in 819 after defeating 30 Pokemon and 1 in 683 after defeating 60. Those are some fairly decent odds. Throw a Shiny Charm on top of this, and you actually end up with a pretty decent chance of finding a shiny Pokemon in a Mass Outbreak.

Here’s a table breaking down shiny odds with any given modifer:

ModifierShiny Odds
Base Odds1 in 4,096
Meal Power Level 31 in 1,024
Shiny Charm1 in 1,365
Mass Outbreak after 30 Pokemon defeated / captured1 in 2,048
Mass Outbreak after 60 Pokemon defeated / captured1 in 1,365
Meal Power Level 3 and Shiny Charm1 in 683
Mass Outbreak after 30 Pokemon defeated / captured and Meal Power Level 31 in 819
Mass Outbreak after 60 Pokemon defeated / captured and Meal Power Level 31 in 683
Mass Outbreak after 30 Pokemon defeated / captured and Shiny Charm1 in 1,024
Mass Outbreak after 60 Pokemon defeated / captured and Shiny Charm1 in 819
Mass Outbreak after 30 Pokemon defeated / captured and Meal Power Level 3 and Shiny Charm1 in 587
Mass Outbreak after 60 Pokemon defeated / captured and Meal Power Level 3 and Shiny Charm1 in 512

As you can see, given that there are about 100 Pokemon in a single Mass Outbreak, with all modifications in place you end up with a nearly 20% chance of finding a shiny Pokemon toward the end of a Mass Outbreak.

Tip:

If you want to keep a particular Mass Outbreak around, turn off auto-save and then manually save your game before jumping into the outbreak. If you don’t find a shiny Pokemon in the outbreak, you can then reload your save and try again.

Good luck crafting those Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Sparkling Power sandwiches, trainer! You’ll need them if you want the best-looking shiny Pokemon.
