How to Get Slate-Colored Horns in Dragon’s Dogma 2

We're on a Goblin hunt.

When you reach Vernworth for the first time in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can start upgrading your gear, and that means you need items like Slate-Colored Horns. Once you know where to look, they are much easier to get, but be prepared for a fight.

Slate-Colored Horns can be collected by killing Hobgoblins and looting their body. Each time you loot one of these enemies, you have a high chance for a few hundred Gold or one of their horns, but you aren’t guaranteed their materials every single time. Just keep looting any of these overgrown Goblins any time you and your Pawns take one down. It’s hard to miss them out on the battlefield due to their size compared to other gremlins in the wild.

Hobgoblins can be found in the wild area immediately west of Vernworth. Any of the area north of Vernworth is mostly home to standard Goblins. I managed to find one Hobgoblin in a cave north of Vernworth that dropped a Slate-Colored Horn. This was only one encounter though and my cast of characters was fairly weak at the time. If you’re west of Vernworth, your party should be more suited to the tougher content in the region when compared to before.

Once you have enough Slate-Colored Horns, you can head over to the Smithy at any major settlement in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you’re attempting to upgrade your weapons, you have likely already tried this process. This time, though, you have the materials needed for more power. Make sure you have some additional Gold on hand as well so you can get past the first upgrade tier and then the Smithy can use the horns for the next tier.

To free up some space for more monster materials, make sure to access your storage.
