How to Get Shiny Garnets in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Before we get into how to get shiny garnets, it’s important to understand where to find regular ones! Garnets are a gem you can get in the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow, the two beginning areas you’ll explore shortly after beginning the game. You’ll spot dark rocks lining cliffsides, rocky walls and small alcoves surrounding the areas, which you can break once you get your royal pickaxe.

Each time you break one of these rocks in the Plaza or Peaceful Meadow, you’re almost guaranteed to get coal or stone. However, there is also a chance you’ll get a garnet, topaz or peridot alongside these. While some luck is involved, there is a way to significantly increase your odds of getting a shiny garnet.

Have you ever noticed that some of these dark rocks have colorful gems on the sides? Be on the lookout for ones with red gems, as these indicate a guaranteed garnet drop! There is also a high chance it’ll be a shiny garnet instead of a normal one. If you want shiny garnets, focus on breaking these rocks!

Tips for Finding More Gems

On top of targeting these red gem rocks, there are a few other ways you can get more garnets and other resources with each stone you break:

  • Hang out with a buddy! Find a character with a mining hangout role and spend time with them. Their passive buff allows you to obtain a second stone, coal, gem or ore each time you break a mineral rock.
  • Level them up! The higher your friend’s level, the greater your chances of getting double drops. If you hang out with a level 10 character, you’re almost guaranteed to get extra resources with every rock you mine.
  • Don’t ignore regular rocks! When you break an ordinary dark stone, there’s a chance that, about halfway through, it’ll turn into a mineral one. If you’re lucky, it’ll become a garnet rock!
