How to Remove the Death Mark Message in Skull and Bones

The Death Mark notification in Skull and Bones is a bug that appears constantly until you take steps to fix the problem. Here are a few of the steps you should take:

  • Quit out to the game’s menu and then log back into your world.
  • Quit out of the game entirely and relaunch Skull and Bones.
  • Visit any settlement or camp and speak with an NPC.
  • Chill at Sainte-Anne, where you’re completely safe from the Death Mark until the message disappears.

If you have the patience, sitting around waiting or finding a vendor to interact with proves the most straightforward method. But if you’re sick and tired of seeing the pop-up at the top of your HUD, I don’t blame you. So go ahead and quit the game and relaunch. If you have Skull and Bones on an SSD, it shouldn’t take long to get back behind the wheel of your vessel.

What is the Death Mark Message in Skull and Bones?

The Death Mark is an end-game mechanic as part of The Helm, an organization you’ll join as you progress deeper into Skull and Bones. Once you unlock The Helm, you’ll gain an opportunity to form a pirate organization and bring in Silver through trade and piracy. But it comes with caveats.

For instance, the Death Mark. If you have a Death Mark on you, it means any ship in the area will target you. You’re a free target. But once rescinded, you’re under the protection of the pirate leagues once more. It’s like a wanted level.

Once you’ve dealt with the Death Mark, why not hunt for a Sea Monster?
