How to Get Pecharunt in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk

I got one more in me!

The Blueberry Academy Pokedex in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s DLC The Indigo Disk has included many of the Pokemon that have previously appeared in special Tera Raids, but it isn’t done just yet. There’s still one extra entry missing from the Dex, and it belongs to none other than Pecharunt.

Where to Catch Pecharunt in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Pecharunt is available for catching at the climax of the Mochi Mayhem Epilogue, which was unlocked on January 11th. Footage for the Mythical Pokemon surfaced as soon as The Indigo Disk dropped, but it took a while before it was officially available.

To access the epilogue, you need to first beat the Academy Ace tournament in Paldea and finish The Indigo Disk’s storyline. You also need to get the Mythical Peach Berry via Mystery Gift, which can be done once per save file. After that, head to Kitakami and interact with the peach-like stuffed toy in the old lady’s store to begin the epilogue.

Pecharunt is the main Pokemon responsible for all the occurrences in the epilogue. The adventure itself is pretty short, so it won’t take long. You’ll meet it at the Loyal Plaza after beating Nemona, when you can challenge Pecharunt and catch it as part of the main story, just like you did for Ogerpon and Terapagos.

How to Catch Pecharunt

To get Pecharunt, you’ll need to take it down in battle. Deplete its HP fully, and you’ll be given the option to choose any Pokeball and catch Pecharunt with a guaranteed 100% catch rate, just like Ogerpon, Terapagos, or any Tera Raid Pokemon.

Pecharunt is a Level 88 Poison / Ghost type Pokemon, weak to Ground, Ghost, Psychic, and Dark. It has the Poison Puppeteer ability, which will cause a Pokemon to become confused when it gets poisoned by any of Pecharunt’s moves, and the following move set:

  • Nasty Plot.
  • Toxic.
  • Malignant Chain.
  • Shadow Ball.

Ground and Dark-type Pokemon are going to fair the best against Pecharunt, being able to half Malignant Chain’s damage while also attacking Pecharunt’s weaknesses. Considering Pecharunt’s ability and its high tendency to inflict poison, you should bring a few Antidotes with you into this fight.

What is Pecharunt?

Info on Pecharunt had first surfaced thanks to dataminers, who discovered its existence in the game’s code. It is entry number 243 on the Blueberry Pokedex. Just like Iron Leaves and Walking Wake, you don’t need to catch it to “complete” your Indigo Disk Pokedex and get the Mark Charm from Cyrano.

Pecharunt is the leader of the Loyal Three from The Teal Mask, playing the role of the namesake character from the Momotaro Japanese folklore legend that inspired the trio. It tells the tale of Momotaro – “peach boy” in a literal translation – who was born from a giant peach and befriended a group consisting of a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant. They banded up to fend off the invading oni from their village.

In the game’s version, Pecharunt was responsible for bringing the trio into existence and was also present back when Ogerpon was exiled from the village. It awakens once the player approaches it with the Mythical Peacha Berry, leading to the Epilogue’s events.

Pecharunt is presumably the final Pokemon we’ll see in Generation IX. Or it should be, at least. And now that you have caught another rare Pokemon, it’s time to finish your Indigo Disk Pokedex if you haven’t done that already.
