How to Get Nightmare Sigils in Diablo 4

Nightmare Dungeons might be one of my favorite endgame activities. There are plenty of challenging enemies, and unique modifiers, but more importantly – loot! Here’s how to get Nightmare Sigils in Diablo 4.

Nightmare Sigils drop as rewards from the Tree of Whispers or as random loot from World Tier 3+ dungeons. Once you earn your first Sigil, you can start salvaging them to craft new ones. However, I recommend using the first Sigils you find so that you can take advantage of the higher Sigil drop rate within Nightmare Dungeons.

To unlock Nightmare Sigils, you’ll need to beat the campaign. Once that’s done, you’ll get a series of post-campaign quests, including a prompt to complete the Capstone Dungeon in Kyovashad. Doing this will allow you to unlock World Tier 3, which you’ll need to be on to unlock Nightmare Dungeons. Once you’ve unlocked World Tier 3, switch your difficulty over.

Where to Find Nightmare Sigils in Diablo 4:

  • Earned as a reward from the Tree of Whispers.
  • Found as loot in World Tier 3 and World Tier 4 dungeons.
  • Can be crafted by an Occultist.
  • Can be found in Nightmare Dungeons themselves.

Once you’ve beaten the Capstone Dungeon, head over to The Whispering Tree, which you met during Act 4 of the campaign. This tree will put you in its employ, tasking you with gathering Grim Favors. Gather 10 for the Tree and you’ll get a choice of three reward caches. No matter what cache you pick, there is a chance of getting a Nightmare Sigil. This step is necessary, as it’s how you’ll get your first Nightmare Sigil.

When you’re in a Nightmare Dungeon, there’s a chance that Nightmare Sigils will drop from random enemies. Stronger enemies will have a chance to drop more Sigils. These Sigils can also drop at the end of the dungeon.

How to Use Nightmare Sigils

Once you have a Nightmare Sigil, go into your inventory and tab over to the right menu called “Consumables”. In this menu, you’ll see your Nightmare Sigil, which you can click to use. Doing so will change the icon of the selected dungeon on the map, making it easier to find.

All Nightmare Sigils will apply a buff or debuff on the associated dungeon. But completing them will allow you to upgrade your Glyphs on your Paragon Board.

If you haven’t unlocked World Tier 3, don’t worry. Here’s your guide on how to find the Capstone Dungeon which will allow you to unlock it.
