Gold is one of the hardest minerals to find in Subnautica 2. Even with your Scanner Station up and running, the Gold might not even show up, and you’ll struggle to progress to the next tier, like crafting Advanced Wiring Kits.

Here’s a quick guide on where you can find Gold even without the Gold signal showing up on your Scanner Station in Subnautica 2.

Where to Find Gold in Subnautica 2

You are most likely here since you probably saw the Advanced Wiring Kits in the electronics tab in your Fabricator, and saw that you needed Gold to craft one. You went to the Scanner Station and can’t find any Gold signals, and have no idea where to get them, or you might just be entirely curious about where to get Gold for some reason.

The trick is to actually still use the Scanner Station and scan for Sulfur, which should have the signal available even without scanning the resources, well, based on my experience or playthrough.

When you scan for Sulfur, it takes you to the outer region of the starting area, which is the hot areas. Around this region, you’ll find other resources, maybe even Lead. Explore around and look for those big golden circular rocks, as seen in the image above, and use a Sonic Resonator to blow them up.

They are usually near those volcanic geysers, and it is very hot around this area. If you don’t have the genetic adaptation for heat, you can’t really last long in this area, so you might need to grab the genetic adaptation, specifically the Angel Comb, to grab the heat resistance adaptation.

Apart from the Sulfuric area, you can also progress through the missions, and upon reaching the Investigating the Tadpole Pens objective, it’ll take you to a place around 700-800 meters away from your Lifepod. Going to this area will also have a ton of Gold nodes, along with other new resources like Lithium (Blackbox – Zip near the Tadpole Pens).
