How to Get DNA Splicers and Get Black and White Kyurem in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk

Fusion time

With almost all of the legendaries making their extraordinary comebacks in The Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, you’ll quickly realize how we’re missing some of the special items related to some of these. Here’s how to get the DNA Splicers for Kyurem in the Generation IX games.

Where to Find DNA Splicers in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

The DNA Splicers can be obtained from the Porto Marinada Auction once you have Kyurem. If you have a Legendary Pokemon in your party/boxes that have an item related to it (such as Arceus and its plates), a fourth vendor appears offering said items. If you have multiple legendaries, multiple items can appear.

So, if you happen to have more Pokemon like Deoxys, Latias/Latios or Necrozma in your boxes, you might not get the DNA Splicers to show up at once. Items sold reset every day, so you can advance your Nintendo Switch date one day forward to reset the offered items. Remember to close the game before doing so.

Once the DNA Splicers appear, it’s up to you to win the auction. Bring a lot of PokeDollars just in case because it can be quite expensive!

What do the DNA Splicers do in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Back in the Black and White era, Kyurem was a special Legendary Pokemon that could fuse with either of the box art legendaries. He becomes White Kyurem when fused with Reshiram, but turns into Black Kyurem when mixed with Zekrom. This is possible thanks to the DNA Splicers, which can fuse and separate both Pokemon at will.

You can do this any time by having both Kyurem and one of the other two dragons in your team. The fused result uses Kyurem’s base stats, IVs, EVs and Nature for battle purposes, ignoring the other Pokemon’s stats completely.

If you happen to have two Kyurems, you cannot have both Black Kyurem and White Kyurem at the same time in the same game. The DNA Splicers will merely revert the fusion when used again. The fused forms cannot be traded either as it technically counts as trading two Pokemon at once for one.

All three Pokemon are available once again in Scarlet & Violet, so as long as you can find them, you can have any of the forms you want in your game.
