Hades 2 players can get Cinders by defeating Hecate, the boss of the Erebus region. It is the first region and the first boss that players will encounter, so it is in the direct path of every run.

Beating Hecate will reward one Cinder per run. There are no other bosses in the game that will reward with Cinders. There are also no other methods of finding it in the environment. Defeating Hecate is the only way to get Cinders.

You will have to go through several rooms before getting to Hecate, so it is important to gather various boons and health upgrades to give yourself the best chance to survive against her. The fight against Hecate will also remain the same each run, so there are no surprises whether you beat her for the first or fifth time.

Cinders are a resource that is used to purchase weapons or potentially other features in the game. Beginning players should not worry about trying to get a large sum of them, and just let it accumulate naturally over multiple runs.

One of the earliest items that players can use Cinders on is the Umbral Flames weapon. This staff launches “damaging ranged attacks as you move, or specials that orbit around you.” It is a great weapon for long-ranged or rushing attacks.

The Umbral Flames cost three Silver and three Cinder to purchase at the Silver Pool. That means you will need to beat Hecate three times in order to afford the weapon.
