How to Catch Balloon Pikachu in Pokemon Go

As of May 9, 2022, there is currently no way to catch Flying Pikachu in Pokemon Go. The Air Adventures event ran from May 3, 2022 – May 8 where it was made available but that’s now ended.

The only way to get a Balloon Pikachu at the time of writing is to trade with another player. Trading requires Stardust and the better friends you are in-game with the player, the less it costs. It will be more expensive depending on your Friendship Level so working on reducing this before you trade is ideal unless you can both afford it. We don’t judge.

Before you trade though, you need to be within 100 meters of each other. This means that you can’t just reach out to a stranger on Reddit and ask if they’ll swap Pokemon with you (unless they’re a spoofer). Niantic isn’t making it that easy.

So with that in mind, if you have no one to trade with locally then you’re out of luck and will have to wait until the next Pokemon Go event that includes Flying Pikachu. When that will be is anyone’s guess.
