How to Find the Ribonned Key and Unlock Maria’s Cat and Outfit in Dead Cells Return to Castlevania

This is Richter's fault somehow

The new Dead Cells DLC is full of Castlevania goodness. And one of the first things you can unlock, just like in Rondo of Blood, is Maria Renard. Well, not directly. But you can unlock an outfit based on the character, and you can also unlock… her cat? Byakko is actually one of the best new items in the whole thing, so being first is a big deal especially if you’re new to Dead Cells. Anyway, here’s how to find the Ribonned Key and unlock Maria’s Cat and Outfit in Dead Cells Return to Castlevania.

You can pull this off right off the bat, or at least after a few runs once you actually have the Castlevania content access unlocked. We have a guide for that too, if you need it. Anyway, as you explore the Castle Outskirts biome, you may come across a locked door demanding the Ribonned Key. Or you may come across an agile white cat that runs away from you whenever you get close. Either way, you need to find that kitty.

Chase it down and grab it to get the Ribonned Key. Then find the locked door if you haven’t already, and talk to Maria to unlock the blueprint for her outfit. Before you leave, make sure to also talk to the cat. This unlocks the Maria’s Cat weapon, which you can immediately equip.

Maria’s Cat is one of the best new items you can get in the Return to Castlevania DLC. Byakko will follow you around as you play, sometimes running ahead to attack enemies on sight for you. But you can also push the button to recall Byakko to have them ride on your back, where they will help attack anything directly in front of you. If you have Byakko on your back you can also press its weapon button to initiate a unique attack. Lots of utility, but the passive damage aspect is super helpful.
