How to Find the Battle-Tested Blade in Octopath Traveler 2

It's not enough to beat a man. You must also steal his sword.

Battle-Tested weapons are some of the best weapons in the game, but they’re also the most difficult, requiring you to complete a character’s story arc to obtain it. Here’s how to find the Battle-Tested Blade in Octopath Traveler 2.

How to Find the Battle-Tested Blade in Octopath Traveler 2

If you want the Battle-Tested Sword, you’ll need to complete Hikari’s story, then go to Crackridge Harbor: Anchorage. This is the port that’s full of shady characters at night. If you haven’t found it yet, you can use the port at New Delsta to reach it.

From Crackridge Harbor, go left and begin climbing the mountain. Once the land evens out, turn left, bypassing the bridge. Follow the path all the way down.

It will start to curve to the right, leading to a flight of stairs. At the top of the stairs will be Bandelam the Reaper, one of the bosses from Hikari’s chapter. We last saw him at the arena. During the day he won’t say anything, but at night he’ll concede that, “Defeat is an empty thing indeed.”

Unfortunately, we have to kick a man when he’s down. Bandelam is the owner of the Battle-Tested Blade, which you can steal during the day. Or you can opt to purchase, mug, or provoke him. If your level is high enough, Stealing makes the most sense.

But if Throne’s not quite up to snuff, you can opt to challenge Bandelam. The best method to bring down any hard to beat NPC is to use six Bottles of Nightmares and the support skill A Step Ahead. Eventually, the status effects the Bottle of Nightmares induce will knock out Bandelam, allowing you to claim the sword.

Once the Sword is in your possession, here are the stats you can expect:

Battle-Tested Blade

  • Physical Attack +400
  • Critical +120
  • Effect: Raises potency of Physical skills

This sword is extremely powerful on a Warrior or Armsmaster. But if you want the rest of the set, check out how to get the Battle-Tested Dagger here: How to Get the Battle-Tested Dagger in Octopath Traveler 2.
