How to Evolve Eevee into Umbreon in Pokemon Sword and Shield

So, first off, if you want to evolve Eevee then you’re going to need to, well, have one. Luckily enough, even if you weren’t on Team Eevee when it came to Pokemon Let’s Go, you’ll still be able to easily find one regardless of which version of the newest Pokemon game you’ve got. For easy Eevee wrangling, you’re going to want to camp out on Route 4 and be really persistent. It’s worth noting that even if you have the special Gigantimax version from having Let’s Go Eevee, that one won’t be able to evolve at all, let alone into Umbreon, so put on your catching mitts and head out amongst the grass.

Once you have an Eevee in your possession, it’s going to be all about actually evolving it. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as possessing a Fire Stone. In fact, it’s probably not all that dissimilar from evolving your Eevee into a Sylveon, which we’ve covered off in a guide previously. In this case, to turn your Eevee into an Umbreon, you’re going to have to fulfill the following criteria:

  • Friendship level with Eevee is at least three hearts
  • Must now know any Fairy moves
  • Must level up at night

So long as you’re hitting all of the above requirements, you’re going to be able to end up with an Umbreon in no time flat. The hardest part might actually be getting your friendship level to three with your Eevee, so just make sure that you’re being as devoted a Pokemon Trainer as possible and you’ll be well on your way. Now that you know how to evolve Eevee into Umbreon in Pokemon Sword and Shield, the Eeveelution world is your oyster! Need a hand with anything else in the latest Pokemon games?
