How to Complete the Malleus Monstronum Penance in Warhammer 40K: Darktide

What a bizarre name for a penance.

The Psyker in Warhammer 40K: Darktide has some incredibly difficult penances to complete, to the point where you almost need coordination to have any hope of pulling it off. When pushing 20 enemies off the cliff in two seconds is considered one of your easier feats, then you have a long road towards full completion. One challenge takes the cake when it comes to the need for communication though, but we have ways to assist you. Here’s how to complete the Malleus Monstronum penance in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

For this penance, you must play on Heresy difficulty and singlehandedly deal 90% of a Monstrosity’s health bar with all damage inflicted by Brain Burst. If other players damage the Monstrosity beyond 10%, then you can’t complete the challenge. If you think that sounds incredibly specific, that’s because it is. Needless to say, you need to have three other players with you if you want hope of ever completing this penance.

If you have a squad, then there’s some small sliver of hope. For obvious reasons, you don’t need to worry about your weapon choice, though if you have an Ogryn on your team, having them run the Battle Maul and Slab Shield means they can use its special action to block any damage from the monstrosity. Your other teammates should focus on dealing with the hordes coming at you, as trust us, there will be hordes.

For a feat build, we’re looking to get as many benefits and bonuses from Warp Charges and Brain Bursts as possible. As such, this is what we suggest:

  • Level 5: Essence Harvest
  • Level 10: Inner Tranquility
  • Level 15: Psychic Communion
  • Level 20: Kinetic Shield
  • Level 25: Warp Battery
  • Level 30: Kinetic Barrage

This build centers around gaining benefits from using your Brain Burst and gaining Warp Charges. Thanks to the level 30 feat choice, you’ll want to be spamming your ultimate whenever at high Peril both to cleanse it and to make brain bursts even easier for you.

Provided you have the right squad for the job (which you could possibly find on the official Darktide discord server), then this challenge will eventually be completed. Just make sure to avoid any Special Conditions or Secondary Objectives.
