How to Complete Stray Dogs in Escape From Tarkov

"This is our land. No more peace talks."

Working for perhaps the most mysterious of the traders, Jaeger, provides plenty of opportunities to explore the various maps, use high-end weaponry, and acquire exceptional rewards for completing your tasks. Here’s how to complete Stray Dogs in Escape From Tarkov.

How to Finish the Stray Dogs Quest in Escape From Tarkov

The side quest Stray Dogs in Escape From Tarkov tasks you with dealing with three unruly newcomers to the zone. They’ve renounced their allegiances to USEC and now cause chaos in the various regions of Tarkov. As a local, Jaeger attempted peace talks but found only war. He wants your help in taking down three targets:

  • Knight
  • Big Pipe
  • Birdeye

These three are boss-type enemies in Escape From Tarkov and, as such, provide a bit more of a challenge than your usual Scavs. They’re readily equipped for battle, use varying techniques and tactics, and have a plethora of bodyguards to help them out in combat situations.

You must hunt them down across four zones: Customs, Lighthouse, Shoreline, and Woods. They spawn throughout these areas at random.

Your first target is Knight. He’s the leader of “Goon Squad,” and you’ll immediately recognize him from the skull-face mask and dreadlocks. He often carries fast-firing submachine guns and assault rifles, making him a close-quarters battle force on the field. As such, I recommend keeping your distance.

Depending on the map where you encounter the three Goons, the strategy changes slightly. On Woods, you’re liable to get detected early, so you may wind up on the defensive.

However, for all those maps, the goal is to detect. You want to find Knight and his Goon Squad first, then strike hard and fast. I recommend lobbing a few grenades, moving from cover to cover, dealing with Big Pipe and Knight first, and then focusing your attention on Birdeye. The latter uses a sniper rifle, so he’ll keep his distance and reposition frequently while the other two draw aggro.

While Knight and Birdeye both prove dangerous, Big Pipe must go down first. He wields explosives, like the game’s various grenade launchers, so keep an eye out for his telltale pirate-themed hardware and unload an entire magazine into it.

Rewards for Completing Stray Dogs

For completing Stray Dogs in Escape From Tarkov, you’ll earn the following rewards:

  • 35,000 EXP
  • Jaeger Rep +0.02
  • 250,000 Roubles
  • 1x SICC Organizational Pouch
  • 1x SWORD International Mk-18 .338 LM Marksman Rifle
  • 2x MK-18 .338 LM 10-Round Magazine
  • 20x .338 Lapua Magnum FMJ

The EXP is pretty good, the money is even better, and the rifle is top-tier. Overall, it’s a fantastical haul for a side quest that asks you to take down three boss-type enemies that you’ll likely fight anyway!

To store your new rifle, magazines, and ammunition, you’ll want to upgrade your stash space for additional storage slots!
