How to Go Rogue in The Division 2

by Prima Games Staff

For most players, the allure of The Division 2’s Dark Zone is the chance to earn rare and powerful gear. For some though, it’s also a chance to indulge themselves in the more sinister activity of PvP. Going rogue in The Dark Zone allows you to fight other players and steal their loot. In the first Division game it was all too easy to accidentally go rogue, but in The Division 2 the systems have been tightened up a bit, meaning you’ll need to complete certain actions in order to hunt other Agents. In this guide we’ll teach you how to go rogue in The Division 2

Before you go rogue, it’s worth being aware of the risks this entails. Whenever you activate rogue status, all other players in your area will be warned of your position and alerted to the fact that they can now kill and be killed by you. It’s not easy to succeed by going rogue, so make sure you know what you’re dealing with first.

To go rogue, hold down the Touchpad on PS4, the Menu/Back button on Xbox One, or press Shift + Z on PC (it may also be T, depending on your bindings). This is the easiest way to manually go rogue no matter where you are, but there are also other actions that will cause you to go rogue. Stealing items from Extraction Points, or hacking certain terminals will cause you to go rogue and mark you to other players. Additionally, there are high-level crates around the Dark Zone which will automatically trigger rogue status when opened.

Going rogue doesn’t always have to be about hunting down other players. Sometimes you’ll just want to get yourself some of the best loot in the game. Either way though, you’ll need to be ready for a fight once it’s done, as anyone will be able to sneak up and start a fight if you’re not careful.
