The latest update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare did the usual map rotations and whatnot, in addition to adding a modify install feature to the PC version. But like usual, the mid-season update also introduced a new gun to the mix. These extra weapons aren’t a part of the season’s Battle Pass, and usually require some sort of in-game feat or achievement to unlock them. This time, for season six, we get the JAK-12, a shotgun that seems strong right out of the gate.
In order to unlock the new JAK-12 shotgun, you need to meet a specific condition. That requirement is to get three kills with a shotgun in seven different matches, and each kill has to be “hipfire.” That means firing without aiming down your sights. Getting kills without sights is pretty tough, and you’ll need to configure a shotgun loadout with as much stopping power as possible. But there are enough smaller maps in Modern Warfare to give yourself ample opportunities.

The JAK-12 shotgun is a beast of a weapon, easily one of the stronger shotguns in the gme right now at close range. But the nasty part is, with the right loadout you can boost the range a ton, making it just as deadly from range. A competitive Call of Duty player/content creator IceManIsaac has a suggested build floating around out there that’s doing exactly that, using attachments to tighten the weapon’s spread and giving it more range. Here’s what’s being suggested:
- FORGE TAC MARAUDER
- ZLR J-3600 TORRENT
- 5mW Laser
- Merc Foregrip
- 8 Round FRAG-12 MAGS

Of course, weapons come out hot and then steadily get cooled down by the developers all the time, so perhaps the glory days ahead for the JAK-12 won’t be lasting long. But until then, here’s a great opportunity to up your game in Warzone or Modern Warfare.
