How to Establish a Device Uplink in Zero Build Mode: Fortnite Covert Ops

For the Covert Ops mission in Fortnite, players will need to begin by establishing a Device uplink in Zero Build Mode. For players who are not in the know, Zero Build Mode was added this season and gave players a playlist where all building is disabled. You can’t build even so much as a ramp. New movement abilities like a tactical sprint and the mantle were introduced to compensate.

The first thing to do is open up the play screen and select the Zero Build Mode of your choice. It comes in Solo, Duo, Trio, and Squad varieties. Once you get in, you will need to go to any of the locations marked on the map below.

To establish the uplink, all you need to do is walk over the small glowing device that can be found at any of the above locations. It’s just that simple. When you do it, you will be able to move on to the next quest in the Covert Ops mission as soon as it becomes available.

It’s best to get this quest done straight after dropping in. If you land near a busy area, you can quickly grab the uplink and then loot up, grabbing shields and weapons and focusing on winning the match.
