Can You Customize Your Ship in No Man’s Sky?

The short answer: no. Unfortunately, there’s not really any way to customize your ship in No Man’s Sky, aside from changing up the weapon technology and then determining the name of your ship. Aside from this, though, there isn’t really much you can do to customize your ship and make it your own.

However, the upside to this is, you can always get your hands on another ship, and getting one can be both a simple or complex process. If you follow our guide on how to make money fast, then you can save up a nice number of Units, which you can then use to purchase any ship from any NPC pilot that you come across during your journeys.

You can also find abandoned and crashed ships on the surface of planets. When repaired completely, these items can be acquired and used as your own personal ship. Keep in mind that doing this will cost you your other ship, so make sure you grab any additional technology off of it to ensure you don’t miss out on a ton of resources or items.

Aside from this, though, there aren’t any ways to customize how your ship looks or choose what kind of colors it has painted on it. You’ll need to make due with what’s available or start hunting for a new ship out in the wild. The good news is, you can always find plenty of ships around space stations, and many times purchasing one from an NPC will already give you the items and technology you need to take care of your basic things.
