After years of waiting, Sony has finally given PlayStation players a feature they’ve been asking for forever: the ability to change their PSN ID! The feature will be going live today, though an exact time hasn’t been given quite yet. For those looking to get rid of their P****Slayer420 tags, here’s what you need to know:
For those looking to change their PSN from their PlayStation 4:
Step 1: From your PS4 go to [Settings].
Step 2: Select [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Profile] > [Online ID].
Step 3: Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.
For those looking to change their PSN from the web:
Step 1: Sign in to your PlayStation Network account and select PSN Profile in the menu.
Step 2: Select the Edit button that’s next to your Online ID.
Step 3: Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.
For those excited for this feature, PlayStation users will be able to change their PSN name for free once. After that, it will be an additional $9.99 with each name change. Make sure to omit any typos and you pick something you would be proud to show off, because as mentioned: no refunds.
We checked our own systems here in the office and the feature isn’t live, but it is going to be toggled on some time later today. Once live, simply follow the instructions above and you can have the PSN ID you’ve always dreamed of. Assuming it’s not taken …
Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
