How to take Down Corruptor

Corruptors are the massive spider-like machines responsible for overriding machines that the Shadow Carja use in their army. These four-legged machines are extremely aggressive, and can move extremely quickly, making them even harder to take down. They also have fewer weaknesses than most of the enemies in Horizon zero Dawn, and you’ll usually find yourself facing off against several of these machines at the same time.

The best way to take down Corruptors is to use fire against them. Like most of the Shadow Carja machines, Corruptors are extremely weak to fire damage. This means you can use fire to slow them down and deal large amounts of damage to them. That won’t make things a complete cake walk, though, as there are several things you have to worry about when fighting Corruptors. We also have a handy guide that will help you learn how to take down Bellowbacks.

The first thing to take into account when dealing with this dangerous machine is the disc launcher on the Corruptor’s back. This weapon shoots out a projectile that deals area of effect (AoE) damage, and can be very devastating to Aloy early on in the game. This machine also has a pounce attack, as well as a rocket launcher, and even a rock throw attack.

The best way to deal with a Corruptor is to take down its components first. You can easily do this using items like Tearblast Arrows, or even Hardpoint Arrows. Aim for the rocket launcher and grenade launcher on the head, and take them out first. Sometimes you’ll even be able to pick up one of the launchers and use it against the machine.

Once the various components are removed, pull out your Fire Arrows and bring the machine into its overheating mode. This will cause it to malfunction for a moment, giving you the perfect chance to attack. At this point, take aim at the Heat Core located between the Corruptor’s eyes. This area is only exposed when the machine is overheating, so make sure you act quickly once you trigger an overheating phase. Keep hitting the Corruptor with Fire Arrows to keep the flames alight and slowly drain the Corruptor’s health points.

Eventually the Corruptor will go down, and you’ll be able to walk away from the battle knowing that you killed one of the toughest machines in the game. Now that you know how to take down Corruptors, be sure to return to our Horizon Zero Dawn guide for more helpful articles like this.
