The Game Awards are just around the corner, as on December 8, the greatest games of 2022, as well as their developers, artists, and actors will be honored for their respective achievements in the videogame medium. For the last eight years, The Game Awards have commemorated many of the industry’s greatest games since the show’s first presentation in 2014 in a ceremony that has only become more extravagant and extensive since its inception. Honorable Mention – Dragon Age Inquisition – 2014
Nominations: 2 (Game of the Year, Best Roleplaying Game)

While Dragon Age: Inquisition only picked up two nominations at The Game Awards 2014, it was the first game to ever win “Game of the Year” at the inaugural ceremony, and also earned a Best RPG victory. There were far fewer categories in the early years of The Game Awards, making the most recent Dragon Age title worthy of recognition.

The Nintendo Switch exclusive action RPG earned three nominations at the ninth iteration of The Game Awards. Of the six “Game of the Year” Nominees, it has the fewest nominations, but is still an undeniable contender at this year’s ceremony.

While Disco Elysium only received four nominations, the 2019 RPG from ZA/UM swept each and every category it was nominated in. Disco Elysium is also tied for second most wins all-time at the game awards with two other games that can be found later on the list. One can only wonder why the RPG wasn’t nominated for “Game of the Year” at The Game Awards sixth annual celebration.
