Fossil Pokemon Sword and Shield Guide: Full List and Combinations

In total, there are four fossil Pokemon in Sword and Shield. They’re spread across the two versions at two apiece, so you’re going to have to get both games if you want to collect all four. Pokemon Sword has the Bird and Dino Fossils, while Pokemon Shield has the Drake and Fish Fossils. Essentially, you will have to mix and match the various fossils – combining two together will give you one of four special Pokemon.

We’ve got the list of fossil combinations down below and the type of the Pokemon that will result:

  • Fossilized Bird and Fossilized Dino – Arctozolt (Electric/Ice type)
  • Fossilized Bird and Fossilized Fish – Arctovish (Water/Ice type)
  • Fossilized Drake and Fossilized Dino – Dracozolt (Electric/Dragon type)
  • Fossilized Drake and Fossilized Fish – Dracovish (Water/Dragon type)

You’ll be able to get these fossils from a variety of activities after meeting the Fossil Professor. Visiting Stow-in-Side will also enable you to pick up doubles of the fossil that you don’t nab in the first way. Later on, trainers will have the option of getting the siblings in the Bridge Field Wild Area to dig up stuff for them, and some of these random rewards will also include fossils (this method is obviously a bit more of a gamble).

Now that you’ve got our Fossil Pokemon Sword and Shield guide in hand, you’ll know exactly which fossils you need to get the ancient Pokemon that you’re after. Need help with anything else in the Galar region? Check out some other stuff we’ve got going related to Pokemon:
