Fortnite x Star Wars – Patch v29.40 Breakdown

On May 3, 2024, Fortnite will be launching its Star Wars update, also known as patch v29.40, featuring a bunch of cosmetics, quests, activities, and content. With its arrival, players will get to start a rebel adventure in Lego Fortnite, following the events of the Star Wars franchise. On top of that, players can also partake in Star Wars quests in standard Fortnite or dance to some sick beats in Fortnite Festival. There’s so much to unpack here, so let’s jump right into it.

Standard Fortnite – Battle Royale Game

Save your friends and defeat the baddies in Standard Fortnite. Patch v29.40 includes new allies to fight with, new weapons to use, and quests to complete. Here’s a quick and easy dive into it all.

  • Chewbacca Ally NPC – Star Wars’ Chewbacca has joined the fight and you can recruit him into battle. Unfortunately, Chewbacca is locked away in a prison and the only way to save him is to break him out from a heavily guarded area. Chewbacca’s location changes each match, but you can find him imprisoned at a specific Imperial Roadblock. After liberating Chewbacca, he’ll follow you and fight alongside with his Bowcaster.
  • Wookie Bowcaster – After liberating Chewbacca, he’ll hand you your own Bowcaster as thanks for freeing him from the Imperial Roadblock. But if you don’t want to go through the hassle of saving him, you can also find one inside Imperial Chests at Imperial Roadblocks across the map. You can either shoot flurries of bolts or charge up a heavier, explosive shot.
  • Darth Vader’s Lightsaber – You can once again defeat Darth Vader to acquire his lightsaber to cut down foes in battle. Darth Vader and his troops will be arriving in a Lambda Shutte on the map, and you can head there to face him. Like previous events, the lightsaber can block incoming ranged attacks and you can slice enemies with the weapon or throw it like a boomerang.
  • Stormtrooper Blaster – Like Darth Vader, you can defeat stormtroopers and use their weapons. In this case, stormtroopers drop E-11 Blasters which can be picked up after defeating them in battle or by looting Imperial Chests at Darth Vader’s landing site.
  • Star Wars Quests – Complete quests during this event to unlock exclusive rewards. The event will release quests in two phases—the first phase kicks off on May 3, 2024 at 9 AM ET, and the second at 9 AM ET on May 7, 2024. Finishing five quests will guarantee you a battle pass level up, while completing ten unlocks the AWR Pack Back Bling. These quests end on May 14, 2024 at 9 AM ET.
  • Star Wars Cosmetics – There’ll be a lot of Star Wars-themed cosmetics in the Fortnite shop. The most interesting ones are Dagobah Luke, Lando Calrissian, and AWR Trooper. It’s worth noting that basically all of the previous Star Wars skins from previous events will be available for purchase too.

Lego Fortnite – Spin-off Mode

Join the galactic rebellion and battle against The Empire in Lego Fortnite. It’s up to you to assist the rebels by building villages and using tools like lightsabers, blasters, and more. Take a look at everything happening.

  • Building Rebel Villages – After you investigate the crash site in the new world, talk to your rebel allies nearby and they’ll give you a pair of Macrobinoculars, which will direct you to the rebel village. The village is located on Star Wars Island and the people there will need your help leveling it up to level 10. Complete objectives like building rebel structures and providing resources to level the village up.
  • Lightsabers – You can find lightsabers across the new world. But you can’t craft these weapons, you can only acquire them by helping the rebels build their village. Lightsabers are powerful tools, but they have a limited supply of energy, so you can only use them every now and then after charging them up.
  • Star Wars Weapons – You’ll be able to craft other Star Wars weapons within the new world. You can craft Bowcasters, DL-44 Blaster, E-11 Blaster, and Thermal Detonators and unlock all of them in recipe form by collecting Durasteel and Scrap Durasteel. To build them, you’ll need a rebel workbench, which can be unlocked by collecting Plastoid. All of the tools and weapons will be available beyond the Star Wars collaboration.
  • Battle Pass – The new event will feature both a free and premium battle pass for players to purchase and use. You can unlock new decorations for your world, general cosmetics. and builds. For more specific information about the rewards, please check out Epic Games official blog post.

Fortnite Rocket Racing – Spinoff Mode

  • Star Wars Quests – Rocket Racing will also have Star Wars quests available. Just like the battle royale, the event will release quests in two phases—the first phase kicks off on May 3, 2024 at 9 AM ET and the second at 9 AM ET on May 7, 2024. You can complete seven quests to obtain a battle pass level up and finish fourteen to unlock the Energy Binders Trail.
  • May the Fourth Quests – Similar to Star Wars quests, Rocket Racing will have May the Fourth quests available starting May 3, 2024 at 9 AM ET. You can complete four to unlock Anakin’s Podracer Decal and finish eight to obtain the Darth Maul Decal.
  • Car Cosmetics – There’ll be a few car cosmetics available for purchase. The most interesting one is the Beskar Bundle, which includes various decals and wheels.

Fortnite Festival Music Jam – Spinoff Mode

Groove to some classics within Fortnite Festival’s new area inspired by Star Wars. Chill out, hang with friends, and dive into the news below.

  • New Fortnite Festival Area – Explore the newest area in Fortnite Festival, inspired by Mos Eisley’s famous Cantina. Listen to some Star Wars classics or just hang out with your friends on stage.
  • Star Wars Quests – Add another great instrument to your collection. You can complete Fortnite Festival’s Star Wars quests to unlock the Seven-string Hallikset Guitar. Simply complete four quests to unlock a battle pass level up and seven to obtain the guitar.
  • Music and Instruments – Head to the shop to buy the “Cantina Band” Jam Track, Endorian Drum Kit, and Nalargon Keytar, and jam with your friends across the game.
