One of the most frustrating weapons to deal with in Fortnite Chapter 5 is easily the Ballistic Shield. These walking planks of metal are deadly and hard to counter, but if you know how to fight back, they can become a detriment.
How to Beat Riot Shields in Fortnite Chapter 5
To beat Ballistic Shields, you need to use Cluster Clingers for explosive damage or hit the shield with a continuous stream of bullets to stun the player. Most of the time, you won’t have a stack of Cluster Clingers in your inventory, so you need to get used to your bullets alone. I’ve been stunned while using a shield, and I’ve also been able to stun players using it against me.
The key is to use a weapon like an assault rifle to dish out as much damage as possible at once. If you delay your shots, the stun effect won’t work. So don’t use weapons like the Reaper Sniper Rifle to get past the shield. When you hit enough shots on the riot shield, the player will lean backward, and the shield will move to the wide, leaving a window for some serious damage.
When you do have access to the Cluster Clingers, you can just stick them to the front surface of the metal. Remember that Ballistic Shields can’t be truly broken, so you can spam as many of the clingers as you need to confirm a cool. After you throw them, keep your distance because the riot shielder could still sprint toward you.
Your last chance at beating an unaware shield player in Fortnite Chapter 5 is to hit the hand or the legs. Players who aren’t crouching will have their feet and lower legs exposed, which is easy enough to hit. The pistol is almost always at the ready on the side of the shield, but that is much harder to hit. So, in most cases, plan to pump as many bullets as you can into the walking fortress.
To truly wield the Ballistic Shield, you might want buff Peter Griffin to carry it with ease.
