Pick a Good Landing Spot

Earning a solo win in Fortnite Battle Royale often comes down to where you choose to land at the start of a match. Landing in a popular location like Tilted Towers can spell a quick defeat when playing solo, simply because there’s more players to deal with during battle.

Try to choose a landing spot that isn’t too crowded, but where you will still have a good chance of finding weapons and loot. Head over to our guide on the best places to land in Fortnite for a quick list of some of our favorite landing spots.

Listen for Audio Cues

Audio cues are extremely important in Fortnite Battle Royale, especially when you are trying to secure a solo win. Make sure you have your in-game sound effects and audio turned up so that you can hear when someone is close by. Listen for the sound of enemy footsteps or other actions such as trap placement to anticipate your enemy’s movements. Use a headset while playing to really enhance the in-game audio and improve your ability to hear enemy footsteps.

When you hear someone nearby in Fortnite, try to determine which direction they are coming from, then find a place to hide and wait to ambush your opponent. Remember, if you can hear them, then they can hear you, so try not to move around too much if you want to avoid being detected.

Harvest Building Materials

Since you won’t have any allies on your side during solo queue in Fortnite Battle Royale, one of your first lines of defense will be your ability to build walls around yourself. In order to build anything in Fortnite, you’ll need to collect enough wood, brick, and metal first.

As you make your way toward the inner circle, be sure to take a few swings at nearby trees, rocks, and other objects to steadily gather building materials for when you need them. Check out our guide on how to combat build in Fortnite for a quick building strategy that will help you stay alive in battle.

Combat Build Using Stone or Metal

If you are able to reach the end phase of a Fortnite solo match, you’ll need to find a way to protect yourself while inside the final circle. The best way to do this is by using the combat building method in the video above to build a multi-level structure that allows you to snipe opponents from the top and gain a height advantage over the remaining players. This will also give you a safe place to heal up if needed.

You’ll want to use a stronger building material such as stone or metal to create a more resilient structure that won’t get gunned down easily. Just keep in mind that stone and metal structures take a bit longer to fully build than wood ones.

Aim for the Head

Whenever you’re facing an enemy in Fortnite Battle Royale, you’ll want to aim for their head to do maximum damage and take them out fast. Headshots are key if you want to quickly eliminate enemy players in Fortnite. If you find a bolt-action sniper rifle with ammo, try to hold onto it until the end of the match. You’ll want to have a sniper when you’re peeking out from your multi-story defensive structure we mentioned in the previous tip above.

Keep these tips in mind the next time you play solo in Fortnite Battle Royale and you should be able to secure yourself a solo win in no time. For more Fortnite tips and tricks, head over to our Fortnite Battle Royale Guide.
