Fortnite Battle Royale – How to Stay Alive

Learn how to stay alive and win in Fortnite Battle Royale.
This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

The key to winning in Fortnite Battle Royale is to stay alive and become the last man standing. Whether you’re the type of person who plays the game for firefights, or the type of person who likes to make it to the end without putting up much of a fight, there are ways to stay alive and be the last person standing in Fortnite Battle Royale. This is going to take a lot to pull off, though, and today we’ll share some of the things that we do to increase our chances of winning by showing you how to stay alive in Fortnite Battle Royale.

Scout Your Path

Minutes before the circle grows smaller, you’ll be given an indication of where it’s going to end up. When this happens, try to go ahead and determine a path that you want to take, and if possible, begin heading that way. We’d suggest moving down a path that bypasses all the bigger areas of the map, when this is possible. If you do have to go into larger areas, then try to make your way to a hill or a vantage point that gives you a good view over the area. This will make it very easy to see when enemies are coming, and to make sure that you’ve got a clear way ahead of you.

Ride the Edge of the Safe Zone

Another good tactic if you want to be able to stay alive and also make sure you have access to some good weapons and things is to wait along the edge of the safe zone as the barrier closes in on you. This will allow you to see others coming, and you can then take them out and loot their bodies for the items and weapons that they might be carrying on them.
The only real issue that you’ll run into here is that you never know when another player might come up on you while you are taking out another player. This can lead to a three-player showdown, which will make things much more difficult for you. Try to keep this from happening by always scouting around, and then grab any loot drops while the area is clear.

Stay Ahead of the Storm

Another good way to keep enemies from seeing you is to stay ahead of the storm at all times. Whenever the new storm radius is shown, head towards it as soon as you can. The only problem here is that you’ll give up the chance to grab some good loot along the way, as you’ll be moving quickly to make it to the next area. Once there, try heading to the center of the new area, as this will keep you away from the edge and the influx of people that it’s going to bring with it.

Stay ahead of the storm, ride the edge of the safe zone for easy kills, and scout ahead of you at all times to increase your chances of staying alive and making it into the last battle of the match. These are all great ways to make sure you aren’t on the surprise end of an attack, however you won’t see as much combat as you would dropping into more populated areas, so please keep that in mind.
