Fortnite Battle Royale can be frustrating for players who are constantly getting shot in the back, or out gunned in a fire fight. However, a lot of people are missing a key strategy when it comes to gun battles in Fortnite Battle Royale. This article covers a quick strategy that will help you to not only last longer in fire fights, but make it closer to that goal of winning a battle royale.

The original Fortnite game focused quite a bit on building structures. That ability carries over into Fortnite Battle Royale, but most people just use it to build mega forts that tend to get destroyed as they fall to a lackluster death. There are very few people who use building in every fight, just like you would a gun.

One of the best and easiest ways to utilize combat building in Fortnite Battle Royale is to build a quick cube as soon as you start taking shots, or you spot an enemy you want to engage. Leave the top off the cube and put a ramp inside. This gives you protection from all four sides, and the high ground on most opponents. Of course if you’re fighting next to a house, they can still stand on the roof for a superior height advantage, but you can always build higher if you really want to.

While in your little fort, you can heal up with relative safety while still looking around you for potential enemies. With this setup you won’t have to worry as much about getting shot in the back while fighting someone else. Get in the habit of building this little fort every time you get into a fire fight and you’ll see improvement in your placements!
